Finding My Artistic Style: The Journey Behind the Canvas

Art, like life, is an ever-evolving journey. For years, I wandered through different styles, never quite finding a unique expression that felt like my own. As a kid, I loved drawing cartoons, and I even had a comic strip in my school newsletter. By high school, I dabbled in abstract and contemporary art—not necessarily because I understood it, but because I thought it made me seem deep and sophisticated. Yes, I was that kind of teenager!

After high school, I stepped away from art for a long time. So long, in fact, that when I finally returned, I shouldn't have been able to draw a stick figure. But somehow, the ability was still there, waiting for me. I immersed myself in portrait and figurative art in my early thirties. I loved it, but something was missing; I didn’t feel like I was truly expressing myself.

Then, one day in 2019, while aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, I discovered an artist named Zak. Her work was unlike anything I had ever seen—intuitive, raw, and beautiful. It inspired me to try something new, something that felt entirely different for me. After much trial and error, I finally found my own style, my artistic voice. It's been a transformative experience, and it has profoundly changed how I see both art and myself.

I know my style will continue to evolve as I do, and I’m excited for that growth. For now, though, I’m loving where this artistic journey is taking me.

And now, I'm curious about you. What’s your story? How did you find your creative voice? Share your experiences in the comments—I’d love to hear them!
